Commit to A Better You For Yourself and Those You Love
What happens at work impacts who you are outside of work. And your personal experiences impact how you show up in your professional life. After all, you are only one human. And although, on some level, most of us understand this link – the fact that every part of our life is interconnected – it can be difficult to make the commitment to take care of yourself first. Even when you know the costs. And especially during the busy holiday season.
If you want to improve your overall day-to-day effectiveness and experience, it’s important to prioritize your personal and professional development. This is truly the best gift you can give to yourself and those you love.
Check out the video for the best gift you can give – and 3 ways to enjoy the holiday season more this year:
But in today’s fast paced and competitive world, many of the trainings organizational and individual customers prioritize for themselves and their teams are focused on keeping up with the latest industry trends. Time, money, and energy is spent to increase knowledge and stay at the forefront of in-demand skills.
And while staying on top of trends and maintaining professional certifications is key in industries from technology to healthcare to art and design, it can feel like a full-time job. So it can feel like a stretch to have the time, energy or budget for much else.
But it’s crucial to remember that the time and energy you invest in yourself enhances the quality of your life on the journey to realizing your most important dreams and aspirations.
This improvement to the quality of your day-to-day experience filters into all areas: greater effectiveness at work and more enjoyment of your overall life.
Don’t Ignore Personal Development
When you ignore your own self-care and personal development – even if your business or professional career seems to be on track – you risk more than losing the day-to-day enjoyment of the benefits of your success.
It’s easy to find yourself working hard and long hours without making the impact you’d like. Other areas of your life suffer. You may not feel that you’re showing up as the person you want to be for those around you: clients, colleagues, family or friends. You may even feel like you’re stuck in a rut when it comes to life outside of work.
And it’s all too easy to look up – 10 years down the road – and realize you’re not much closer to those things that are most important to you personally and professionally — despite years of hard work.
In fact, this is the reason I created my program: Success With Benefits. By combining over 20 years as a consultant along with my work as a success coach – with a unique focus on the self-care practices you need to create the work and the life you truly want – I’m guiding people – just like you – toward gaining more clarity on their desired outcomes as well as how to take the steps toward them in an efficient and effective way.
This program is made up of like-minded business owners, professionals and entrepreneurs motivating and challenging each other in a confidential, supportive environment. You can learn more about the group program here. It’s based on the program I have been leading private coaching clients through for several years now.
Make The Commitment
The other reason I started The Success With Benefits program is because I know – firsthand – that personal development is a lifelong process. Enlisting experienced and trusted guidance helps you stay on track and yield greater results (in less time). This kind of development helps improve your own awareness, develop your talents and express your unique strengths. And it has a very real impact in terms of your results: in your business, your growth in your career, and your impact in all areas.
And focusing on your own development has a positive impact that goes well beyond you. When you commit to your growth, to doing your own work in this area – and taking full responsibility for your life – you’ll find that even small positive changes have a ripple effect.
There is a positive impact on your relationships with family and loved ones, your health and wellbeing improve, as well as the quality of your overall contributions.
So ask yourself this: What would a better, more empowered, less stressed, happier, more creative and focused you mean?
- What would it mean for your business?
- What would it mean for your day-to-day experiences with your partner, colleagues, children?
- What would it mean for your social relationships with friends and your impact in the community?
If you’re thinking that it could have a major impact on your life, then decide that this holiday season – make the decision to invest in yourself along with the gifts and time you give to others, while taking the time to be grateful for all you have.
Remember Gratitude
We talked about the power of gratitude last month and there was such an overwhelming, positive response. You can read about it here.
Gratitude is a simple practice that can literally help us shift from limiting beliefs, worries or fears to more positive states of happiness, connection, and love – and it’s backed up by extensive research.
Incorporating gratitude as you make the commitment to invest in yourself this holiday season can make for a pretty powerful December (and even more powerful jump start for the New Year!)
